Seeking your feedback on a draft Economic Development Strategy (EDS)

Over the last two years we've been chatting with business, community, schools, and other stakeholders on Maitland's economic future. We've held over 75 consultation opportunities through local pop-up events, industry workshops, business and stakeholder meetings, and events to capture the aspirations of our community.

Based on this input and combined with research and local data, we've developed Maitland's draft Economic Development Strategy.

The draft Strategy offers a roadmap to improve community wellbeing, preserve and enhance green spaces, and create a vibrant, self-sustaining economy for generations to come.

With a 10-year strategic outlook, the draft Strategy seeks to address the challenges Maitland faces by focusing on four priority areas: people, place, prosperity and partnerships.

Thank you to everyone who has taken part and help to shape this important document.

The draft EDS is now on public exhibition, which means it's now time to take a look at what've prepared and provide your feedback to let us know if we're on the right track. All feedback will be considered and will help inform the final document. View the draft EDS in the 'Document Library' to the right and submit your feedback below.

The world is changing rapidly with technological advancement, climate change, COVID-19 and geopolitical shifts impacting how our economy works. An Economic Development Strategy will consider opportunities for our city, outline how these trends will impact Maitland, and identify future opportunities.

Maitland's draft EDS offers a roadmap to improve community wellbeing, preserve and enhance green spaces, and create a vibrant, self-sustaining economy for generations to come.

Having an EDS readies us for the future and is an important step in building economic resilience and prosperity for our City.
