Works are underway
We're starting work on the new Gillieston Heights Skate Park and playspace.
The new skate park will be located next to Roy Jordan Oval. Trinity Skaetparks designed the concept, which was voted for by the community. It will feature a flow bowl with a keyhole transition. The nearby playspace will be upgraded with new equipment, a shade sail, and nature and water play elements.
Work is set to wrap up in December, just in time for the Christmas holidays.
This project is jointly funded by the NSW Government's Places to Play grant program and Council.

Concept one is the clear winner
The winning design for Gillieston Heights Skate Park, with 90 per cent of respondents voting in favour of concept one.
The concept, designed by Trinity Skateparks features a deep bowl end, flat ledge to bank and a waterfall.
We'll now enter the detailed design phase, and expect construction to begin in July 2024.
Thanks for your feedback
In April, we asked you to take a survey to choose your favourite design for the new Gillieston Heights Skate Park.
Following your input in March, Trinity Skateparks created two design concepts for the new skatepark. One design features a deep bowl end, flat edge to bank, and a waterfall, while the second features a circular bowl end, flat bar grind rail, and central mogul.
The survey is now closed and we are working with Trinity Skateparks to analyse the results.
Previous consultation
Previous consultation
The first stage of consultation stage for this project is now complete. Thank you to everyone who participated in the online survey, or shared their thoughts at our pop up events.
We're analysing your input, which will help us understand the skate park elements most important to the people using the space, and help shape the skatepark's design.
A new skate park is coming to Gillieston Heights
About the project
We’re working with Trinity Skateparks to deliver a new skate park for Gillieston Heights, and in March, we asked for your help with the design.
We wanted to know what you’d like to see at the new skate park and what elements are important to you.
You were invited to complete a survey, which presented a range of options for you to choose from. This survey is now closed.
As part of the consultation process, we also held several pop up sessions so you could provide feedback in person and have a chat.
This project is part of a $1 million redevelopment at Roy Jordan Oval, jointly funded by the NSW Government’s Places to Play program and Maitland City Council.
