The Maitland Park Master Plan, now including the Maitland Park Citywide Playspace, maps out improvements to the site, focusing on increased play, more recreational opportunities, improved parking, pathway connections, accessibility and shade, and creating a vibrant civic space.

The Master Plan was on public exhibition from 10 February to 9 March 2025, receiving five formal submissions and 150 survey contributions. Community feedback showed that the community was supportive of increased parking, new and expanded playspaces and more passive open space and pathways.

Whilst parking was supported, there were some concerns from respondents regarding changes to traffic flow, the location of parking and the relocation of existing parking, and the location of the cricket nets. This feedback has informed the updated and finalised Maitland Park Master Plan which features:

  • a new location for the cricket net complex
  • improved path connection to the outer field amenities
  • maximised green open space and reduced paving.

Concerns relating to traffic flow will be addressed through an independent traffic study at each stage of the Master Plan, which will include investigations into appropriate traffic measures such as road widening.

While currently unfunded, we will continue to seek funding opportunities for the staged delivery of these projects, with timelines to be determined once funding is secured. We have made progress on some works already, with a new car park now open for use at the heart of Maitland Park and a spacious open lawn area set to open late 2025.

The Maitland Park Master Plan and Playspace concept designs were endorsed by Council on 15 July 2025. For more information on this project, refer to the Council Meeting agenda and minutes in the document library.
