What do you love about Maitland?
What do you love about living, working or playing in Maitland?
The Community Strategic Plan is our shared vision for the future of Maitland - the city we call home. It captures what we love most about our community today and our hopes for how it will grow and improve in the years ahead.
This plan will drive the decisions made by Council on the things that really matter to us like services, facilities, development and more.
We're here to serve the Maitland community, which we do by delivering on the vision you set for us in the Community Strategic Plan. We want to ensure it reflects your values and that we grow into a strong, diverse, and resilient city that you love.
We're asked three key questions to learn more about what you value about the Maitland we have now, what you dream of for our future, and what we should focus on to ensure we achieve that vision together.
The active community consultation on this project is now closed, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed to the conversation. We are reviewing all responses to draft our new Community Strategic Plan for Maitland's future. The draft Plan will be made available for community feedback in early 2025.
Do you only have a moment to spare, but want to make sure your voice is heard? Take the quick poll to have your say on Maitland's future.

Having your say before we prepare our draft Community Strategic Plan means Maitland's future will reflect our community's needs and priorities.
It's an opportunity to have a direct voice in shaping the Maitland we want for ourselves, our families and our neighbourhoods. This strategic plan belongs to everyone in our community - it's about maintaining what we have now and deciding what we want for the future to ensure the welcoming, liveable city we call home.
Your voice matters. This isn't just our plan—it's your plan, your future. We need your help to shape the Maitland of tomorrow. Let us know what you want. Together, let's shape Maitland's future.
Maitland's Community Strategic Plan, belongs to you, the community. It identifies our community's main priorities and aspirations for the future.
Maitland's Community Strategic Plan provides clear strategies and direction to achieve this vision over the next 10 years.
Each Council is required to have a Community Strategic Plan. They are developed by and for the community as a reference for Council, state government agencies, community groups, non-government organisations, businesses and individuals, who all play a part in building our future.
Yes, we sure do. You can read our current Maitland +10 Community Strategic Plan here.
While the Plan looks forward ten years, it is important for us to check in regularly to ensure the document stays aligned with our communities needs and goals so our long term planning stays on track.
We review or redevelop the Community Strategic Plan for each new term of Council. Maitland has grown, so we're redeveloping our Community Strategic Plan to ensure the Maitland of the future meets your needs.
We're so glad you asked! Please share your thoughts and ideas using the online participation tools on this page or visiting us at a pop up listed in the key dates section.
We'll also be hosting a few community focus groups over the engagement period. If this is something you might like to participate in, please register your interest.
We acknowledge the Wonnarua People as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land within the Maitland Local Government Area. Council pays respect to all Aboriginal Elders, past, present and future with a spiritual connection to these lands.
