Following a public exhibition period from 11 April to 9 May 2024, which generated 34 submissions from the community, Council endorsed the Operational Plan 2024-25 at its meeting on 11 June 2024.
The highest theme addressed by the community was in regards to school traffic safety at St Joseph's school, and we continue to support and advocate to Transport for NSW as the responsible authority to improve pedestrian movement in the area. The full list of topics of interest the community raised during this process and amendments made to the final document is available in the Council meeting agenda for 11 June 2024.
The final document includes a budget of $216 million to fund all services, infrastructure and operations of Council and a presentation of actions we will undertake this financial year.
The public exhibition period for the draft Operational Plan 2024-25 has now closed.
Thank you to everyone who made submissions. The Council will review and consider all submissions we received before adopting the final plan. Responses will be addressed in the Council report, which will be made available on our website as part of the agenda for the Council meeting on June 11, 2024.
Every year, we develop a plan detailing how we will invest in our city and deliver key services and infrastructure that bring our community's vision for Maitland to life. In 2024-25, we plan to invest $210 million to make that happen.
The draft Operational Plan 2024–25 details the services, projects, and infrastructure the Council will deliver over the financial year. It includes Council’s rating structure, budget, fees and charges, and Infrastructure Program.
The draft Operational Plan is on public exhibition between 11 April and 9 May 2024. The following draft documents are available for review and comment:
We encourage you to review the plans and have your say via the link below. Your submission is used by Council to assist in it's decision making process. All formal submissions will be considered by Council to help inform the preparation of the final plan.
In addition to new infrastructure and service delivery, the 2024-25 Operational Plan outlines how Council will manage and maintain $1.9 billion of assets, including:
This final Operational Plan under the Delivery Program 2022-2026 introduces an important change of theme, moving from ‘Let’s Lead’ to ‘Let’s achieve together.’
This shift mirrors Council's recent organisational restructure and refocuses our objectives, highlighting our commitment to success as we work together towards achieving our goals.
Maitland remains one of Australia's fastest growing inland cities, with about 2,000 new residents each year.
We're committed to navigating economic challenges and seeking solutions that ensure our continued financial sustainability. Recognising the importance of continually assessing our service levels and ensuring responsible budgeting, resource allocation, innovation and embedding a culture of improvement.
The Operational Plan 2024-25 focuses us on this journey towards financial sustainability and resilience.
The Delivery Program is a four year plan that covers the term of our elected Council. It outlines the key strategies the organisation will undertake to achieve its desired outcomes.
The Operational Plan 2024-25 is a one year plan that outlines the key actions, projects and services to be undertaken to achieve the desired outcomes set out in the Delivery Program and identifies primary responsibilities.
The resourcing strategies including the Long Term Financial Plan support our Delivery Program and Operational Plan and provide us with important information about our current resources and show our consideration of the people, assets and finances required to deliver the actions and projects.
The Fees and Charges document outlines fees for services, including aquatic centre fees, parks and recreational fees and building certificate and subdivision fees. Fees and charges are put on public exhibition for comment each year before being adopted by Council.
We acknowledge the Wonnarua People as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land within the Maitland Local Government Area. Council pays respect to all Aboriginal Elders, past, present and future with a spiritual connection to these lands.
