As our population grows, we need to update our boundaries.
We have proposed changes to Maitland's boundaries to balance the number of electors in each of our four wards, as well as simplifying the wards naming conventions.
Under the Local Government Act 1993, all councils must review ward boundaries before each local election, ensuring that the difference in elector numbers between each ward does not exceed 10%. The next local government election is set for September 2024.
You can view the proposed adjustments here.
The public exhibition has now closed, thank you to everyone that made a formal submission in response to the proposed ward boundary adjustments and name changes.
