Past consultation
Council wanted to identify the expectations around Seniors Festival 2024, which took place from Monday 11 March 2024 - Sunday, 24 March 2024. The theme for 2024 was ‘Reach Beyond'.
Seniors Festival 2024 celebrated the role and contributions of older adults to our local community. The festival featured a combination of activities, programs, and events aimed at Maitland’s senior community across the Local Government Area (LGA).
Below are the results of the initial consultation asking what seniors in our community wanted to see at the 2024 festival.

Run courses on all aspects of IT. Not just basic information but slightly more advanced IT use for seniors who are being left behind.

Orlagh says:
I think it should be celebrated by re-opening the Senior Citizens Centre. With a closed centre, any other celebration is a sham!

Bring back the festival held in the town hall with band music and rock and rollers. It was always sold out, and who knows who cut it?

A seniors ball/dance where we could enjoy 50/60 music (not 20/30’s music we’re not that old). Maitland town hall has the a great dance floor

I would like to see what Maitland offers seniors. I'd like to hear a variety of musicians rather than only Lonnie Lee.

Shirley says:
I really enjoyed the Lonnie Lee Concerts that occurred during Seniors Week. Another one with him, if he is still available would be great.

Maier says:
I would like to see a seniors weekly activity starting around 9am to 9.30am of Yoga and or Pilates. Preferably in a ground floor situation.
